This is a devil made with Paper Clay, but what I really like is the texture. I used a frosting star tip and pushed stars into the entire surface. then I fired it but doused watered down acrylic paint afterward. It gives it a very organic, mossy, alive feel.

mask
Aztec Indian man, I am very often drawn to native art. Paper Clay, white engobe, black engobe with Crystal Black on the carved eyes.
mask
Paper Clay, my Confused Man symbolizes how I become blind when my mind is not clear. Red Iron Oxide stain, almost all but wiped off.
mask
This is a devil mask but Red Iron Oxide flares underneath White Crackle glaze. They said it couldn't be done...... Never listen to anyone but the voice within. The stain and glaze worked fine. Paper Clay.
mask
Another native mask, this time I used Red Iron Oxide stain but also glued golden beads into his eyes afterward. I started some texture and rudimentary design too. Paper Clay was used.
Mask
National geographic published an article about the newest found breed of leopards, The Clouded Spotted Leopard. I was enamored of course, because this cat was found in the jungle where I must have lived in another lifetime. This is my Clouded Leopard, Shino glaze and black engobe.
Mask
This is a Free Spirit mask, lots of carving, paper clay, and this is Red Iron Oxide with reduction.
King
This is my King from the Queen and King set. I don't know where this idea came from within me, but it was there! I made it with paper clay and Cobalt stain.
mask
This is my soldier mask; it is quite heavy and was made with paper clay and Red Iron Oxide stain wiped off.
Haida sun
This is my Haida Sun. Made with paper clay, black engobe, white engobe and a clear glaze over.
mask
This is my interpretation of Neptune. It is made with paper clay and has a Red Iron Oxide glaze on it that did not get reduction. I really like the pale sea green.
Tree
This is my favorite oil painting. It is of a tree that stood outside my apartment at the time, 2000, in La Jolla. I lived at the beach and the sunsets were really beautiful.
Phoenix
I had a really productive yet challenging year in 2006 and this rising Phoenix came out of my mind. It was my first acrylic painting.
